About the Role and Company

M Group Energy is a key provider of essential energy infrastructure services across transmission substations, renewable energy, EV, metering, and home decarbonisation. The company focuses on delivering reliable electricity through designing, constructing, and commissioning substations up to 400kV and maintaining transmission lines mainly in South Wales.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and refine construction schedules covering design, procurement, and construction stages of projects, ensuring resource coordination and alignment with outages, consents, and wayleave requirements.
• Generate detailed weekly progress reports tracking project milestones.
• Support the Head of Planning by fostering a strong culture emphasizing robust programme management.
• Integrate cost management systems to automate reporting of Cost and Schedule Performance Indices and enforce process discipline.
• Lead the adoption and adherence to program management policies and standards.
• Participate in project handover meetings alongside Bid, Project Management, and Quantity Surveying teams.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors to optimize project execution and attend site meetings as necessary.
• Provide planning expertise during tender phases of projects.
• Represent the company in client engagements, ensuring targets and KPIs are met on time.
• Collect benchmarking data to facilitate value assessments.
• Administer risk, issue, and opportunity logs consistent with change management protocols.
• Stay current with advancements in planning methodologies, technologies, and initiatives.
• Contribute to coordinated business improvement and strategy execution agendas.
• Work effectively with commercial and financial stakeholders within Planning & Systems teams.
• Monitor program compliance against contractual obligations.
• Support achievement of project goals including risk mitigation, cost control, and safe, compliant delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project software for planning purposes.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts, earned value management, and change and risk management processes.
• Holds a full UK driving license with the flexibility to travel between Swansea, Newport, and Birmingham offices as required.
• Experience in energy transmission construction, particularly in substation projects, is preferred; extensive experience in major infrastructure projects will also be considered.
