Job description

About the Role

Jacobs is devoted to solving some of the world's toughest challenges by designing cutting-edge semiconductor and advanced manufacturing facilities globally. These high-tech environments require exceptional precision, cleanliness, and reliability—standards met by our multidisciplinary, innovative engineering teams. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to projects spanning from feasibility studies to full design and construction support for semiconductor manufacturing plants.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create piping layouts, routing plans, and 3D models utilizing CADWorx specifically for semiconductor and advanced manufacturing plants.
  • Generate comprehensive piping documentation including plans, isometric views, sections, details, material take-offs, sketches, and construction drawings.
  • Analyze and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), piping specs, vendor documents, and engineering requirements.
  • Model piping systems and supports adhering to project standards, client specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with various disciplines such as Process, Mechanical, Structural, Architectural, and Electrical to resolve design challenges and ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Design semiconductor utility and process piping systems including UPW, PCW, CDA, process gases, chemical distribution, and waste collection.
  • Perform thorough model reviews and quality checks to guarantee accuracy and coordination of deliverables.
  • Conduct field inspections, site surveys, and design validations as necessary.
  • Identify potential constructability issues, scope changes, and impacts on design, communicating these proactively.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to engineers, project teams, and construction activities.
  • Work effectively within global teams, ensuring seamless coordination across different locations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in industrial piping design.
  • A minimum of 3 years specifically with CADWorx for piping system design and 3D modeling.
  • Proven track record delivering piping models, drawings, and related construction documentation.
  • Strong understanding of piping materials, specifications, equipment interfacing, pipe supports, and layout principles.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret P&IDs, vendor documentation, and engineering plans.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary design teams and project environments.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Advanced English communication skills for collaboration across global teams.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Prior involvement in semiconductor facility projects.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor utility and process piping systems.
  • Experience using Navisworks for model review and coordination.
  • Background in brownfield modifications, tie-ins, and field validation tasks.
  • Comfortable working within global or multi-office project teams.
  • Experience conducting thorough model quality reviews and coordination of deliverables.
  • Relevant technical education, engineering studies, certifications, or equivalent industry experience.
