Job description

Overview

Join a locally owned community pharmacy to support health, beauty, and convenience services, placing customer care at the forefront. This role involves assisting with technical aspects of prescription dispensing, supporting pharmacy service delivery, and contributing to pharmacy operations following professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers promptly and collect prescription details according to established standards.
  • Follow role assignments and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Direct all clinical questions to the pharmacist.
  • Communicate realistic wait times effectively to customers.
  • Process prescriptions and related items for checkout.
  • Refer customers needing counseling to the pharmacist.
  • Manage and control the dispensary cash register, maintaining confidentiality and privacy.
  • Receive new and repeat prescription orders per procedural standards.
  • Prepare and place orders excluding controlled drugs and narcotics.
  • Handle third-party billing online and manual accounts efficiently.
  • Respond to phone inquiries, forwarding clinical issues to the pharmacist.
  • Manage incoming faxes following pharmacy practice standards.
  • Assist in coordinating pharmacist callbacks.
  • File documentation accurately as required by pharmacy standards.
  • Support prescription preparation meeting company and professional standards.
  • Perform data entry for new and refill prescription requests.
  • Select medications appropriately according to standards.
  • Count, measure, package, and label prescriptions efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy system records and data.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Completion of a recognized Pharmacy Assistant accredited course preferred.
  • Prior experience in a pharmacy setting is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational capabilities with multitasking proficiency.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail is essential.
