Overview
Join a community-focused, locally owned Shoppers Drug Mart store where you will play a pivotal role in delivering health, beauty, and convenience services while ensuring the customer remains the focus of your efforts.
Role Significance
This position involves supporting the technical aspects of prescription dispensing, assisting in pharmacy service delivery, and contributing to the overall pharmacy operations following the Pharmacy Standards of Practice. Providing prompt, courteous, and efficient service to customers is essential.
Primary Responsibilities
- Welcome customers promptly and collect prescription details in line with established standards.
- Perform tasks based on the priorities assigned in the role assignment schedule.
- Refer clinical questions to the pharmacist.
- Set achievable expectations for customers regarding wait times.
- Locate prescriptions and related products and process their sale.
- Ensure customers needing pharmacist counseling are appropriately referred.
- Operate and oversee the dispensary cash register while maintaining confidentiality standards.
- Receive new and repeat prescription orders aligning with standard procedures.
- Prepare and send orders, excluding controlled substances and narcotics.
- Manage adjudication of third-party billing online and handle manual third-party accounts.
- Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to the pharmacist as needed.
- Handle incoming faxes in accordance with pharmacy standards.
- Support the pharmacist with coordinating patient callbacks.
- Ensure proper filing of completed documents consistent with the pharmacy standards.
- Assist in prescription preparation adhering to company and professional standards.
- Enter new prescription data and manage refill requests accurately.
- Select appropriate medications for dispensing following pharmacy regulations.
- Count, measure, package, and label prescriptions efficiently as per standards.
- Maintain accurate data within pharmacy management systems.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma mandatory.
- Preferably hold a diploma from an accredited Pharmacy Assistant program.
- Prior experience in pharmacy settings is advantageous.
- Strong organizational abilities and capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective problem-solving aptitude.
- High attention to detail is critical.
