As a Pet Groomer, you will play a crucial role in providing professional grooming services that ensure each animal looks and feels their best, fostering health and happiness.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts, styling, nail trims, ear cleaning, and gland expression while adhering to breed standards and company policies.
• Operate and maintain grooming tools such as clippers, shears, brushes, and dryers.
• Prioritize animal welfare by monitoring pets for signs of distress or illness, reporting concerns to owners and management promptly.
• Assess each pet's specific grooming needs based on coat type, skin condition, and temperament.
• Engage professionally with pet owners, answer questions, provide grooming advice, and ensure high satisfaction.
• Recommend personalized grooming maintenance and at-home care practices to pet parents.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the grooming salon, including sanitizing tools and performing routine cleaning tasks.
• Comply with Petco's grooming policies and standards to ensure consistent quality and safety across all operations.
• Support, train, and supervise new groomers when needed under the guidance of salon leadership.

Qualifications and Skills

• Completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program or equivalent professional grooming experience and training.
• High school diploma or GED preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to independently solve grooming-related issues and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail with a commitment to quality and productivity results.
• Passion for animal care and dedication to a grooming career.
• In-depth knowledge of dog breeds, grooming standards, health concerns, and behavior.
• Proficiency in breed-specific cuts and styling techniques.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for interaction with customers and team members.
• Capability to handle pets of various sizes and temperaments with empathy and care.
• Availability to work on weekends, evenings, and holidays according to salon schedule.

Work Environment

The bulk of duties occur indoors within the grooming salon. The role requires physical stamina including bending, kneeling, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 30 pounds. The environment may be noisy and wet, with occasional use of ladders or cleaning equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

The wage range is $15.00 to $23.00 per hour, subject to local minimum wage laws and varies by location, experience, and position level.
