Role Overview
Based in Auburn, NSW, this full-time, on-site Personal Support Worker role involves delivering direct support to older adults and people with disabilities within their homes and community environments. Key responsibilities include assisting with personal care such as hygiene, mobility, dressing, and safe equipment use. The role requires support for everyday tasks like meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders (within authorised scope), and accompanying clients to appointments and social or community events.
The worker will monitor client wellbeing, promptly report any changes or concerns, meticulously document care provided, and adhere to individualised care plans in compliance with NDIS or aged care requirements. Collaborating with families, carers, and allied health professionals is essential. The role demands adherence to safeguarding and risk management standards while promoting autonomy, dignity, and choice in all interactions.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience as a Support Worker or in a comparable direct care position, emphasizing person-centred care practices.
- Excellent interpersonal capabilities including empathy, patience, and trust-building with diverse clients and families.
- Knowledgeable in safeguarding, risk management, and safe work procedures relevant to aged care and disability support.
- Strong communication skills enabling precise documentation and collaborative teamwork.
- Basic technical aptitude to assist clients with simple devices, applications, or communication aids.
- Possession or pursuit of a qualification such as Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability, or equivalent.
- Current certifications in First Aid and CPR, alongside clearances like police checks or Working With Children Checks as required.
- Familiarity with NDIS and aged care regulatory frameworks, cultural competence, and the flexibility to work varied shifts.
