Job Description
We are looking for a meticulous PCB Layout Engineer specialized in designing intricate printed circuit boards for advanced electronic systems. This role involves close collaboration with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing colleagues to create designs that fulfill criteria for functionality, durability, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and arrange multi-layer, densely packed PCBs, managing component placement and signal routing effectively.
- Convert schematics into production-ready PCB designs emphasizing signal and power integrity as well as thermal considerations.
- Set specifications for stack-ups, impedance, and routing constraints in high-speed circuits such as DDR, PCIe, and SERDES.
- Produce comprehensive PCB fabrication and assembly documentation including Gerber files, ODB++, drawings, and BOMs.
- Conduct design rule checks, verify designs, and address layout-related issues.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers to align on design prerequisites and system limitations.
- Coordinate with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure design for manufacturing and assembly compliance, facilitating smooth production.
- Support prototype development, debugging, and refine layouts for optimized cost, performance, and yield.
- Maintain thorough documentation, component libraries, and revision control systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent field.
- Three to eight or more years of professional experience in PCB layout and design.
- Expertise using PCB design software tools such as Cadence Allegro, Altium Designer, Mentor, or Zuken.
- Strong knowledge of high-speed digital design principles.
- Understanding of signal integrity and power integrity concepts.
- Familiarity with EMC and EMI mitigation methodologies.
- Experience designing high-density, multi-layer circuit boards incorporating modern manufacturing processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with complex electronic systems, including industrial equipment, semiconductor tools, automotive, or reliability-critical applications.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and test (DFM/DFT) best practices and cost-saving design approaches.
- Hands-on experience with board testing, validation, and failure analysis.
- Certification such as IPC CID or an equivalent credential.
