Role Summary

The Payroll Officer will assist the Payroll Manager by ensuring payroll services at Carpentaria are executed accurately, compliantly, and promptly. This role demands strong familiarity with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Industry Award, Fair Work legislation, and relevant internal policies to guarantee correct payroll processing including penalty rates, allowances, leave entitlements, and superannuation contributions.

The responsibilities include end-to-end payroll processing, addressing employee payroll inquiries, and collaborating closely with Human Resources and Finance to preserve data accuracy and adhere to regulatory requirements.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess a Certificate IV in Payroll Administration, Bookkeeping, Accounting, or related fields, or have equivalent practical experience, preferably within the community sector.
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of the SCHADS Award (MA000100) and other Fair Work modern awards.
  • Competency with payroll software such as ELMO payroll or similar tools, along with understanding of Single Touch Payroll (STP) Phase 2, superannuation guarantee obligations, and PAYG withholding rules.
  • High numerical accuracy coupled with advanced organizational skills, enabling effective workload prioritization while maintaining precision and close attention to detail.

The successful applicant must be able to obtain or currently hold a current Ochre Card, Criminal History Check, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, First Aid certificate, and Northern Territory Driver’s Licence.
