Role Overview

The Payroll Expert will act as a subject matter authority on payroll within specific countries or regions. This role demands extensive expertise in local payroll laws, payroll system implementations, and vendor collaborations. The individual will manage the entire payroll process accurately and on time, resolve complex payroll issues, and drive process enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and choose payroll software that aligns with Deel's technology requirements.
  • Guarantee precise and timely payroll operations within assigned regions and other supported countries.
  • Generate and validate internal payroll reports ensuring compliance with local tax regulations.
  • Manage essential payroll and HR functions such as setting involuntary deductions and assisting employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Coordinate payroll expense collections and reconcile collections against expenses.
  • Evaluate and refine payroll workflows to adapt to rapid business growth while maintaining compliance.
  • Keep updated on local regulatory changes and communicate these updates effectively within teams.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to offer local payroll and HR insights.
  • Respond to advanced payroll and HR queries from employees and clients within the region.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Over 5 years of experience in payroll and HR, specifically within the involved country.
  • In-depth understanding of local payroll laws and HR policies.
  • Exceptional multitasking and deadline management.
  • Proficient communication skills to effectively engage with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to clarify complex payroll topics understandably.
  • Advanced proficiency in local payroll software and intermediate expertise in Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Preferred experience includes managing payroll technology and external vendors, implementing new payroll systems, handling multiple countries and payroll technologies, and mentoring junior staff.
