About the Role
Our client, a prominent North American manufacturer specializing in heat-resistant cast steel products, is seeking a dedicated Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to manage payroll processing and benefits administration for hourly staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer biweekly payroll for unionized hourly employees using the ADP payroll system.
- Stay informed on the current collective bargaining agreement and its effects on payroll and benefits.
- Ensure adherence to Canadian federal and provincial payroll laws along with company policies.
- Accurately and punctually enter data related to new hires, transfers, leaves of absence, terminations, and wage modifications for hourly workers.
- Implement annual union wage increases, including updates to group benefits.
- Compile month-end balance reports for the Finance department and support year-end payroll audit activities.
- Prepare cheque requests and handle payments for union dues and garnishments.
- Maintain compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
- Respond promptly to supervisory inquiries regarding payroll discrepancies.
- Organize and maintain physical personnel record files within Human Resources.
- Serve as backup support for salaried payroll processing during absences.
- Align payroll activities with the broader goals and objectives of the Human Resources department.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least three years of experience administering payroll, ideally in a unionized setting.
- Diploma or degree in Payroll, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Certification from the National Payroll Institute in Payroll Administration.
- Comprehensive understanding of payroll processes and reporting standards.
