Position Summary

The Payroll Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring payroll accuracy and timeliness while supporting workforce reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reconciliations. This position involves close collaboration with Payroll, HR, and Finance teams to maintain workforce data integrity, offer insights into personnel expenses, and enhance process efficiencies contributing to effective financial management and business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute comprehensive payroll processing for weekly, fortnightly, and monthly cycles, ensuring compliance and punctuality.
• Handle all employee payroll transactions including onboarding, changes, terminations, and statutory payments such as superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax, and workers compensation.
• Prepare payroll-related reconciliations, journal entries, leave provisions, accruals, and support financial reporting for month-end and year-end periods.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and Zero-Based Budgeting efforts related to personnel costs by monitoring variances and generating reports.
• Sustain accurate and consistent workforce data across HRIS, payroll, and finance platforms.
• Create and maintain comprehensive workforce reports and dashboards offering valuable insights on personnel costs, headcount, and organizational metrics.
• Identify and propose enhancements to payroll processes, reporting, automation, and system functionalities to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and Finance departments to troubleshoot payroll and data issues and contribute to business initiatives.

Candidate Profile

• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in payroll, finance, HR analytics, or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, compliance standards, and payroll processing.
• Experience with payroll reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel with the ability to manage and analyze large datasets.
• Familiarity with HRIS, payroll, and finance systems, with DataPay experience highly preferred.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills characterized by high precision and attention to detail.
• Proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
• Strong organizational ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills enabling teamwork across Payroll, HR, and Finance.
• Interest in leveraging automation and technology to enhance reporting and processes.
