Job Overview
The Payment Posting Specialist plays a critical role in handling financial intake processes for multiple Ventra Health clients (approximately 13-14 facilities). The specialist is expected to maintain a six-day turnaround time for postings and ensure all deposits for the current month are completed by the month-end deadline. Compliance with relevant billing laws and the ability to work cooperatively in a team-driven environment are essential for supporting Ventra Health clients nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Post accounts payable deposits accurately.
- Process both electronic 835 transactions and manual payer Explanation of Benefits (EOB) documents, including posting insurance allowances, patient portions, denials, adjustments, contractual write-offs, recoups, and balancing forwards.
- Accurately interpret EOB remittance codes and apply appropriate denial codes.
- Ensure payment batches are balanced and closed within required timelines.
- Navigate relevant websites to obtain necessary EOBs.
- Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent certification.
- Minimum of two years’ experience posting insurance payments within a healthcare environment.
- Preferred experience of two years reviewing insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficient knowledge of various insurance payer types.
- Strong understanding of EOB statements.
- Excellent balancing and reconciliation capabilities.
- Competence with 10-Key calculator use.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Solid mathematical proficiency.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to interpret and follow federal and state billing laws and regulations.
- Adaptability to work collaboratively and respond flexibly within a fast-paced team setting.
- Professional and tactful communication with a diverse range of individuals.
Compensation
Salary is determined by factors unique to each candidate, including geographic location, experience, skill set, and qualifications. This role is eligible for a discretionary performance-based incentive bonus aligned with company policies.
