Pathology Collector

About the Role

As a Pathology Collector based in Katherine, Northern Territory, you will play a crucial role in obtaining blood and non-blood samples while ensuring a positive, professional, and compassionate interaction with every patient. This position is full-time, Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, providing a supportive environment where you can contribute meaningfully to patient care and sample handling accuracy to aid timely diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect blood and other specimen samples carefully and precisely.
• Create a welcoming and calm atmosphere to put patients at ease.
• Properly prepare and package specimens for transport following set procedures.
• Maintain thorough records and comply with collection protocols.
• Assist in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations within the collection site.

Candidate Profile

We welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds including aged care, disability support, nursing, or any customer-facing role who exhibit reliability, empathy, and the eagerness to learn. Previous pathology collection experience or certification is advantageous but not mandatory.

Qualifications and Experience

• Pathology collection experience and a Certificate III in Pathology Collection are preferred but not essential.
• Healthcare experience (e.g., aged care, disability, nursing) or strong customer service background necessary.

Mandatory Requirements

• Possession or willingness to obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting.
• Ability to provide proof of immunizations such as Hepatitis B.

Training

A paid six-week training program is included, starting with full-time hours for two weeks and then a minimum of 25 hours weekly. Training is delivered internally, may be accelerated based on prior experience, and equips you with essential skills for the role.
