Parts Interpreter

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-focused and experienced Parts Interpreter to join a leading global rail industry company located in Granville, NSW. This permanent, full-time role operates within a fast-moving manufacturing setting, playing a vital part in the identification, sourcing, and supply of parts critical to business operations.

Key Duties

• Interpret and accurately identify parts and components by utilizing parts catalogs, technical manuals, documentation, and computerized systems.
• Manage the processing of parts orders and requests through SAP, ensuring availability and maintaining precise records.
• Monitor inventory levels, detect shortages, and support sourcing efforts from suppliers when necessary.
• Work closely with departments such as Production, Rail Services, Warehouse, Line Feeding teams, and supervisory staff to ensure parts are delivered efficiently for ongoing operations.
• Handle part enquiries by providing accurate advice on appropriate components.
• Assist in supplier coordination to procure parts within required timelines.
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of parts, inventory, orders, and transactions within company systems.
• Develop in-depth knowledge of product specifications related to rail and manufacturing parts.
• Support the Line Feeding team during absences or peak periods as needed.
• Communicate effectively within teams to streamline workflows and reduce production delays.

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience in a Parts Interpreter role or a similar position focused on parts management.
• Background in manufacturing, rail, automotive, heavy vehicle, or industrial environments is highly advantageous.
• Proficient in SAP ERP systems—this is essential for the role.
• Possession of a valid forklift license or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong capability to interpret parts information using catalogs and technical references with precision and care.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in all responsibilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Advanced computer skills and confidence working with ERP and inventory management software.
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• A proactive mindset with a focus on problem-solving and providing solutions.
• Effective teamwork and ability to manage stakeholder relationships.
• Full legal working rights in Australia are mandatory.
