Job description
Job Overview
The primary role involves leading the Park Ranger Service across all Aberdeen parks to deliver a comprehensive service focused on conservation, enhancement, and facilitating suitable public use. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety of park visitors, enforcing park regulations, and creating educational opportunities about the outdoor environment.
Location and Duration
This is a permanent, full-time position based at Duthie Park.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Candidates must possess a relevant qualification in Countryside Management, Rural Studies, Amenity Horticulture, Environmental Sciences, or a comparable subject equivalent to the National Certificate or similar.
- Applicants must be physically able to perform all duties associated with the role.
Skills and Abilities
- Effective communication skills with diverse groups including school-aged children.
- Familiarity and willingness to engage with the Council's digital HR platforms (such as CoreHr).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficient verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Initiative to work proactively with minimal supervision while recognizing when to escalate issues to management.
Additional Information
Roles requiring PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) membership apply, with candidates responsible for the associated costs if the salary is £30,000 or above. The Council initially covers the fee, which is later deducted from the employee’s first full month’s salary.
