About the Role

Join Busways at our Blacktown Depot as a Panel Beater / Body Builder, where you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing our fleet to the highest standards. You will lead a team daily, applying your expertise and reliability to support innovative practices in vehicle maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate damage to bus body panels and structures and provide precise repair estimates.
• Remove and replace damaged parts such as panels, hoods, and fenders using hand and power tools.
• Straighten and repair frames and body structures ensuring compliance with OEM specifications.
• Perform welding and fabrication to restore vehicle integrity.
• Prepare and finish repaired areas for painting, including filing, grinding, and sanding.
• Carry out body structural, accident damage, and related repair work, servicing vehicles as needed.
• Maintain, prepare, replace, and repair vehicle body components and door systems.
• Manufacture, fit, and service components made from aluminum, timber, steel, stainless steel, glass, fiberglass, and bonding materials.
• Uphold clean workshop standards and adhere to all company policies and documentation processes.
• Ensure all workshop practices comply with Workplace Health and Safety regulations.

Desired Qualifications and Attributes

• Hold relevant trade qualification (MVTC) and a Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology.
• Demonstrated experience as a Body Builder or Panel Beater, especially with larger vehicles.
• Experience or willingness to develop skills in vehicle service and maintenance.
• Strong expertise in bus body repair techniques including welding and metalwork.
• Compliance with WHS regulations and company policies.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven teamwork skills in daily maintenance and repair routines.
• Proactive attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Physical fitness suitable for role demands.
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment medical and working with children checks.
• Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or hold unrestricted work rights in Australia.
• Current unrestricted Australian driver's licence relevant to the state.

Preferred but Not Required

• Medium Rigid (MR) or higher Australian driver’s licence.
