Job Overview
Smith Industries is looking for a meticulous and safety-conscious Painter to contribute to our fabrication department. This position involves preparing vessels and fabricated components for painting and carrying out touch-up work to meet established quality and safety benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all safety guidelines, wear necessary personal protective equipment, exercise authority to halt work if unsafe conditions arise, and promptly report any incidents or safety issues to supervisory staff.
- Prepare vessels and other products at Smith Industries for painting tasks and touch-up operations.
- Carry out surface prep activities such as sanding, cleaning, inspection, masking, and taping.
- Ready surfaces for painting by using compressed air to blow down, wiping with thinners, and cleaning as appropriate.
- Complete touch-up painting to address flaws and ensure a high standard of product quality.
- Use small hand tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Perform additional duties when assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in industrial painting or paint surface preparation is preferred.
- High attention to detail and dedication to quality workmanship.
- Basic familiarity with hand tools and techniques for surface preparation.
- Strong focus on safety practices and hazard identification; knowledge of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is an advantage.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and collaborate well within a team environment.
