Role Overview

The Painter role involves improving the aesthetics, quality, and value of residential communities in Southwestern Ontario. This position emphasizes craftsmanship, independence, and attention to detail, collaborating closely with Property Managers and Maintenance Technicians to maintain and revitalize properties ensuring resident pride.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute interior and exterior painting tasks for residential buildings, ensuring exceptional finishes that enhance appearance and resident experience.
  • Prepare surfaces through sanding, scraping, patching, cleaning, and removing old paint as needed.
  • Apply paints, primers, and protective coatings to safeguard surfaces from damage such as water and mold.
  • Conduct general maintenance and touch-ups to uphold overall property condition and curb appeal.
  • Coordinate with Property Managers and Maintenance Technicians to prioritize painting assignments and uphold operational standards.
  • Efficiently manage painting materials, tools, and inventory, seeking ways to lower supply and operational expenses.
  • Maintain tidy, organized, and safe work areas, ensuring proper cleanup and material disposal after each project.
  • Be available for on-call duties including evenings and weekends, with hours flexible based on operational requirements.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficient painting skills involving preparation, repair, and finishing on diverse surfaces.
  • Solid understanding of paints, primers, coatings, and painting tools and equipment.
  • Keen attention to detail aligned with delivering quality workmanship.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Effective communication and customer service aptitude.
  • Capable of working safely at heights and lifting weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Aware of and compliant with workplace health and safety practices to ensure safe working conditions.

Education and Experience

  • Completion of High School Diploma or an equivalent credential.
  • At least 5 years of professional painting experience.
  • Demonstrated commercial painting expertise.
  • Experience painting exterior building surfaces, balconies, line markings, and low-rise residential properties.
  • Competence in safe use of ladders and working at heights.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada with a successful criminal background check.
  • Possession of a valid Ontario Class G Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Familiarity with Ontario Residential Tenancies legislation and landlord/tenant responsibilities is a plus.
