Overnight Freight Associate

About the Role

Join The Home Depot Canada as a Freight Team Associate, where your efforts directly contribute to helping customers and enhancing their shopping experience. This position involves managing merchandise stocking, sales floor organization, and providing customer service support. The role often requires operating specialized equipment such as reach trucks, forklifts, and order picker machines to efficiently handle merchandise movement.

Key Responsibilities

• Restock shelves to maintain full inventory levels at all times.
• Load and unload merchandise as directed.
• Merchandise new products and promotional items effectively.
• Keep aisles clean and merchandise accessible and visually appealing.
• Organize and maintain product placement on overhead shelving.
• Communicate with team members to ensure correct product stocking locations.
• Deliver customer service by following Home Depot’s Get Model: Greet, Engage, and Thank the customer.
• Ask open-ended questions to understand customer projects and needs when required.
• Handle merchandise safely using appropriate equipment, moving items from staging areas to overheads and vice versa.
• Keep aisles clear for safe customer movement.
• Adhere to all safety and loss prevention procedures.

Additional Information

• Reports directly to the Freight Team Supervisor.
• No travel is required.
• Physical demands include bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and ladder climbing up to 12-16 feet.
• Work schedule involves flexible overnight shifts, which may include evenings and weekends.
• Work environment consists of a warehouse setting with possible dust, noise, forklift gas fumes, and temperature variations due to open doors.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1 to 2 years of retail or distribution experience is considered an asset.
• Knowledge and experience operating reach trucks, forklifts, and order picker machinery is advantageous.
• The compensation range for this role is from $20.10 to $21.85 per hour.
