Job Summary
Purple Heron Hospitals Private Limited is seeking a proficient and reliable OT Assistant to facilitate the smooth operation of surgical, nursing, and anaesthesia teams within the Operation Theatre.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize the Operation Theatre before scheduled surgeries, ensuring all instruments, sutures, implants, and consumables are ready and checked.
- Provide intraoperative support to surgeons by delivering necessary instruments and materials while maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Perform meticulous counting of surgical items before, during, and after procedures to maintain safety.
- Handle surgical instruments carefully and segregate them following use; assist with specimen handling and transfer according to hospital protocols.
- Assist the Anaesthetist by preparing anaesthesia workstations, verifying equipment functionality, arranging airway instruments, and keeping consumables stocked.
- Support patient safety by helping with positioning and transfer, adhering to infection-control protocols, and maintaining Operation Theatre hygiene and readiness post-procedure.
- Coordinate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and report equipment or safety issues promptly.
- Be prepared for assistance during emergency and critical surgeries.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or B.Sc. in Operation Theatre Technology or a related field; relevant OT/Anaesthesia Technician certifications also considered.
- 0 to 3 years’ experience in hospital OT settings; freshers with suitable training may be eligible.
- Practical knowledge of surgical instruments, scrub duties, sterile techniques, anaesthesia equipment, and infection control.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to work under pressure during emergencies.
- Attention to detail, discipline, punctuality, and readiness for rotational and night shifts.
- Basic computer skills for documentation purposes.
