Order Picker (Full-Time)

Position Summary

Order Pickers are responsible for managing pick lists that detail the products needed to fulfill each order. Duties include prioritizing and gathering merchandise from throughout the store promptly, carefully packing items to prevent damage, labeling orders accurately, and organizing them in designated areas until they are shipped out. This role also involves assisting at the Service Desk by handling basic customer order transactions such as point-of-sale sales and returns, answering calls, and interpreting orders or notes in the system.

Core Responsibilities

• Delivering excellent customer service by greeting, engaging, and thanking customers, in line with Home Depot’s GET model.
• Efficiently assembling product mixes to complete orders using the Order Fulfillment Application.
• Loading delivery vehicles and assisting customers with curbside orders while adhering to safety standards.
• Organizing storage space for orders waiting to be dispatched and ensuring packaging can withstand transport conditions.
• Complying with all safety and loss prevention guidelines.
• Safely moving freight using proper equipment, including relocating items to overhead storage or retrieving merchandise as needed.

Physical and Working Conditions

• Physical activities include walking, standing, bending, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items.
• Occasional lifting and moving of heavy or bulky goods without assistance.
• Ability to climb ladders up to 12 to 16 feet to access or stock merchandise.
• Flexible work schedule including overnight shifts as well as evenings and weekends.
• Warehouse environment may be dusty, noisy, with exposure to gas fumes from forklifts and changes in temperature due to frequently open doors.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Between one and two years of experience in retail or distribution preferred.
• Knowledge of operating reach trucks and order picker machinery is advantageous.

Additional Information

• Reports directly to the Service Desk Department Supervisor.
• Travel is not required for this position.
