About the Role

A large multi-entity group in the UAE's construction and engineering sector is looking for an Oracle EBS Technical Consultant to maintain and enhance their Oracle E-Business Suite systems. This position covers modules such as Purchasing, Inventory, Finance, HR and Payroll, Project Costing, and Billing, including custom extensions, ensuring system reliability and evolution to meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, customize, and extend Oracle EBS using SQL and PL/SQL, including creating packages, procedures, triggers, and functions for reporting, data extraction, conversions, and custom features.
  • Design and deploy Oracle Forms, Forms personalizations, and Oracle Application Framework (OAF) pages tailored to business processes, such as validations and UI enhancements.
  • Create and maintain custom extensions like concurrent programs, request sets, value sets, alerts, and Workflow customizations ensuring compliance with Oracle coding standards for upgrade compatibility.
  • Develop custom reports using BI and XML Publisher, including designing data models, templates, and bursting configurations, adapting report layouts across multiple modules as needed.
  • Support data extraction for management reporting, audits, and regulatory requirements, ensuring data integrity and reconciliation.
  • Build and maintain interfaces using Oracle APIs and open interface tables, incorporating error handling and reconciliation controls, and support integration with third-party systems like e-invoicing, banking, payroll, and internal portals.
  • Assist with master data management including supplier records and material masters to maintain accuracy and support procurement and finance.
  • Provide daily technical support, troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and apply fixes within agreed timeframes.
  • Optimize database and application performance via query tuning, indexing, and concurrent program improvements.
  • Support patching, cloning, and environment refresh activities in collaboration with DBAs and infrastructure teams and retest customizations after updates.
  • Collaborate with functional consultants and business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements and implement efficient process improvements.
  • Create technical design documentation, unit test plans, migration guides, and assist in system integration, user acceptance testing, and cutover activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation to prevent knowledge silos.
  • Adhere to Group IT change management procedures with documented approvals for production deployments.
  • Follow secure coding practices and support internal and external audits through documentation and system presentations.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, reduction of redundant customizations, and technical debt minimization.

Candidate Profile and Skills

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL, including performance tuning and debugging complex code.
  • Deep understanding of Oracle EBS R12 or R12.2 technical architecture and data models, especially in modules such as AP, AR, GL, FA, PO, Inventory, Project Costing and Billing, HRMS, and Payroll.
  • Hands-on experience with BI Publisher, XML Publisher, Oracle Reports, Oracle Forms and Forms personalization, and OAF development.
  • Experience with Oracle standard APIs, open interfaces, Workflow Builder, and knowledge of AME approval hierarchies.
  • Good awareness of finance and supply chain processes to validate practical and effective specifications.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux shell scripting and concurrent manager administration.
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and business audiences, strong problem-solving abilities under pressure, and commitment to thorough documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years in Oracle E-Business Suite technical development and support, preferably with R12 or R12.2.
  • Proven track record delivering reports, interfaces, conversions, and extensions across Finance, Supply Chain, Projects, and HR modules.
  • Experience participating in at least one full-lifecycle Oracle EBS implementation, upgrade, or significant rollout.
  • Preferably have UAE or GCC experience, with additional advantage in construction, contracting, EPC, manufacturing, or multi-entity operations.
  • Experience operating within formal change control processes and collaborating with functional consultants and implementation partners.
