About Kwetta and the Role
Kwetta is pioneering ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) chargers that utilize existing grid power, enabling fleets to transition to electric vehicles much faster. The company is on a mission to build a world-class manufacturing operation to support its global expansion, and is seeking an Operations Manager to lead this effort based in Napier, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand.
Role Overview
This leadership position requires an individual who can develop the manufacturing infrastructure, systems, and talent to scale the production efficiently. The role involves hands-on engagement on the shop floor to understand processes, coaching leaders, optimizing supply chains, collaborating with engineering for manufacturability, and participating in senior leadership discussions shaping Kwetta's growth trajectory.
The role oversees both Production and Procurement departments, establishing robust systems and leadership to scale operations pragmatically. Success depends on fostering collaboration across departments including Engineering, Procurement, Sales, and Service to ensure manufacturing excellence.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience managing complex manufacturing operations and empowering teams to deliver consistent results.
- Specialization in high mix, high value manufacturing with a thorough understanding of operational challenges involved in producing technically intricate products and the ability to create scalable, repeatable manufacturing systems.
- Demonstrated success in leading MRP/ERP system implementations, embedding them effectively into operations with practical insights.
- Experience in developing or expanding offshore manufacturing capabilities, preferably within Europe, maintaining high standards of quality and coordination with global teams.
- Strategic and collaborative leadership skills, facilitating cross-functional teamwork among Engineering, Product, Procurement, Sales, and Service to achieve shared objectives.
- A mindset committed to continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent methodologies to find smarter and streamlined ways of working without adding bureaucracy.
- An electrical manufacturing background is advantageous but not mandatory; candidates from other technically complex manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary ranging from NZD 170,000 to 200,000 annually, dependent on experience.
