The Open Cut Examiner (OCE) position at our Curragh Complex plays an essential role in guaranteeing all mining activities comply with safety regulations and statutory standards. This permanent, field-based role operates on a 7 days on/7 days off roster. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with site leaders and crews to identify hazards, carry out inspections, and promote safe operational practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform statutory inspections and compliance audits as mandated.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, systems, and relevant legislation.
• Assess and manage operational risks effectively.
• Support investigations into incidents and accidents.
• Contribute actively to safety education and awareness initiatives.
• Maintain comprehensive and precise documentation, reports, and records.
• Drive ongoing enhancements in safety processes and systems.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of a Queensland Open Cut Examiner’s Certificate of Competency.
• Prior practical experience as an Open Cut Examiner in open cut coal mining operations.
• Deep understanding of Coal Mining Safety and Health legislation.
• A proactive and visible leadership style concerning safety and risk management.
