About the Role

Join a motivated and values-driven team that prioritizes client care. As a skilled Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering tailored rehabilitation and support to clients in the New Plymouth community alongside a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver community rehabilitation services, supporting individuals to achieve their recovery goals within their own environments.
  • Assess and treat clients with concussion and mild to moderate traumatic brain injuries, including conditions affecting the cervical spine, vestibular, and oculomotor systems.
  • Collaborate closely with general practitioners, specialists, and multidisciplinary team members to provide holistic care.
  • Provide personalized Training for Independence programs focusing on functional rehabilitation in homes and community settings.
  • Engage in pain management services by implementing behavior change strategies, pacing techniques, and self-management education, employing biopsychosocial approaches.
  • Conduct thorough Social Rehabilitation Needs Assessments to evaluate functional needs and make service recommendations, ensuring clients access appropriate supports and ACC entitlements.
  • Produce high-quality clinical reports demonstrating sound clinical reasoning.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant occupational therapy qualifications, current professional registration, and a valid practicing certificate.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in community rehabilitation services.
  • Strong clinical reasoning skills and adaptability to diverse client needs.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and stakeholders.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
