Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Observability Engineer to architect, implement, and maintain comprehensive monitoring and observability solutions spanning infrastructure, applications, and microservices. This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders to derive actionable insights and improve system health visibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy end-to-end observability frameworks for infrastructure and application layers, including microservices.
  • Create and maintain dashboards offering real-time monitoring of system health and performance metrics.
  • Engage with various stakeholders to gather monitoring requirements and communicate findings effectively.
  • Evaluate and enhance observability maturity within the organisation.
  • Manage solutions for metrics gathering and alerting mechanisms.
  • Automate monitoring workflows using scripting languages such as Shell, Python, and PowerShell.
  • Integrate and optimize performance and scalability of monitoring tools.
  • Diagnose and resolve observability-related challenges across multiple environments.

Technical Expertise Required

  • In-depth knowledge of infrastructure monitoring involving host systems, networks, and open systems.
  • Expertise in Application Performance Monitoring (APM) for both monolithic and containerized applications.
  • Monitoring microservices architectures.
  • Dashboard development and data visualization proficiency.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and documentation capabilities.
  • Proficient scripting skills in Shell, Python, and PowerShell.
  • Experience with Broadcom DX Unified Infrastructure Management (DX UIM).

Preferred Knowledge and Tools

  • Experience using tools such as Broadcom DX UIM for infrastructure monitoring.
  • Use of Cisco AppDynamics and Elastic APM for application performance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with Solarwinds for network performance monitoring.
  • Dashboard creation experience using Grafana.
  • Background in financial or regulated industries.
  • Additional knowledge of Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) is advantageous.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with observability systems covering design, implementation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with enterprise logging platforms such as Elasticsearch or Splunk.
  • Automation scripting experience using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and PowerShell.
  • Comprehensive understanding of application and infrastructure domains.
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms, including OpenShift or Kubernetes.
  • Strong foundation in hardware, OS, and system performance tuning.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and creative problem-solving approach.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English with effective communication skills.
  • Proven capability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines independently.
