Nursing Home Activities Assistant - Ferbane

Role Overview

Windmill Healthcare Group is seeking a dedicated full-time Activities Assistant to join our care team at the Ferbane Care Centre. The position involves supporting the delivery of high-quality care by managing and implementing a well-rounded activities program for residents in partnership with the Director of Nursing and other staff members.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and organize suitable recreational, physical, and individualized activities tailored for residents at Ferbane Care Centre.
• Regularly update resident activity assessments or adjust them according to changing needs.
• Identify and respond to the needs of both groups and individual residents by customizing activities accordingly.
• Maintain detailed records of resident participation in both on-site and external activities using EpiCare Therapies notes.
• Promote active engagement of residents within the care center's programs.
• Build trusting and open relationships to encourage resident participation.
• Train staff at Ferbane Care Centre in conducting resident activities.
• Plan and facilitate special events such as outings, garden visits, birthdays, Christmas, and other seasonal festivities.
• Collaborate with local library services to assist residents with borrowing and returning books and utilizing library resources.
• Notify the lead nurse of any concerns about residents.
• Participate in relevant training sessions both internally and externally to enhance service quality.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding residents and facility operations, ensuring privacy is respected at all times.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications:

• Mandatory: Leaving Certificate.
• Preferred: Completion of Sonas Course Levels 1 and 2.

Experience:

• Essential prior experience working in a nursing home or social care setting.
• Desirable skills include expertise in cooking, gardening, knitting, music, and arts and crafts.
