Role Overview
The NOC Engineer role entails managing and assuring the reliability of key infrastructure and distributed edge data centers. Responsibilities include monitoring systems for power, cooling, networking, environmental parameters, and coordinating incident response and recovery efforts to maintain operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize PLC, BMS, and DCIM systems (e.g., Distech, Radix IoT/Mango, Schneider Electric, Siemens) to oversee critical infrastructure health.
- Respond proactively to alerts related to power, cooling, network connectivity, and environmental status, providing Tier 2 escalation support.
- Manage incident lifecycles from triage to closure, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders and detailed documentation.
- Conduct routine checks and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical equipment including UPS, PDU, CRAC/CRAH units, generators.
- Read and interpret complex technical diagrams and documentation for operational decision-making.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules and unplanned repairs with internal teams and external vendors.
- Ensure compliance with physical and cybersecurity policies at data center and edge locations.
- Support operations of modular, containerized and geographically dispersed edge data centers, driving continuous improvements in monitoring and fault recovery processes.
- Employ operational tools such as Grafana, ServiceNow, Jira, Zenduty, or Zoho Desk for monitoring and incident management.
- Develop automation scripts and maintain infrastructure documentation to enhance efficiency and compliance readiness.
- Collaborate across facilities, engineering, security, and networking teams to uphold infrastructure reliability and participate in on-call scheduling supporting 24/7 uptime.
Required Expertise
- Over 5 years of experience in Network Operations Center (NOC), data center or critical infrastructure roles.
- Proficient in PLC, BMS, and DCIM platforms with practical experience in power and cooling system operations.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical infrastructure components including UPS, PDUs, CRAC/CRAH, backup generators.
- SOLID understanding of networking principles and monitoring systems.
- Experienced in incident management, escalation protocols, and operational change controls.
- Ability to interpret electrical one-line diagrams, network schematics, and technical manuals effectively.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation capabilities.
- Adaptable to shift or on-call work including night and weekend responsibilities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with modular, container-based, and edge data centers management.
- Skilled in supporting remote infrastructure and integrating environmental sensors and IoT telemetry systems.
- Competent with Linux and Windows server operating environments.
- Basic automation scripting using Python, PowerShell or Bash.
- Familiarity with tools like Grafana, ServiceNow, Jira, SolarWinds, Zenduty, and Zoho Desk.
- Understanding of compliance protocols and audit evidence management.
- Relevant certifications such as CDCP, CDCTP, CompTIA Server+, CCNA or equivalents are advantageous.
