Our Freight Team Associates play a crucial role in stocking merchandise, maintaining an organized sales floor to enhance customer shopping experiences, and delivering service as needed. This role frequently involves operating equipment such as reach trucks, forklifts, and order picker machinery to transfer products to the sales floor. Associates are also tasked with picking, carefully packing, and labeling orders to prevent damage and ensure accurate placement in holding areas.
Primary Responsibilities
- Replenish merchandise on shelves to maintain full stock levels.
- Load and unload merchandise as directed, including packing it out and packing it down.
- Present new products and promotional items effectively through merchandising.
- Keep aisles clean and organized to enhance product accessibility and visual appeal.
- Maintain overhead inventory areas, including striping and arranging stock.
- Collaborate with fellow freight team members to ensure proper product placement.
- Implement Home Depot’s customer service approach by greeting, engaging, and thanking customers.
- Ask open-ended questions regarding customer projects to assess their needs and expertise.
- Handle freight safely from staging areas to overheads or vice versa using appropriate equipment.
- Ensure aisles are free from obstacles, facilitating safe customer movement.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and loss prevention policies.

Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Engage in physical activities including bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, and pulling items.
- Ability to safely climb ladders up to 12 to 16 feet to retrieve or stock products.
- Work overnight shifts with a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
- Operate in a warehouse setting exposed to dust, noise, gas fumes from forklifts, and variable indoor temperatures due to frequently open doors.
Qualifications and Additional Information
- Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred experience: 1 to 2 years in retail or distribution.
- Knowledge of operating reach trucks, forklifts, and order picker machines is a valuable asset.
- Position reports to the Freight Team Supervisor.
- No travel is required.
