Position Overview
Axia Tanzania is looking to recruit an experienced Night Auditor to manage overnight front desk operations at a hotel located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Night Auditor will ensure all financial transactions and guest activities are meticulously recorded and reconciled during the night shift, sustaining smooth hotel functions throughout the hours of darkness.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage front office duties overnight including guest check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and general guest services.
- Execute the night audit process to accurately capture and reconcile all hotel transactions.
- Validate guest accounts, including room charges, billing, payments, and any financial dealings.
- Perform daily revenue reconciliation covering rooms, Food & Beverage, and other operational departments.
- Audit postings, modifications, discounts, and payment entries made during the day.
- Generate and prepare daily audit, revenue, and other pertinent financial and operational reports.
- Keep track of room status, occupancy, availability, and guest records ensuring information is current and accurate.
- Address guest issues such as late arrivals, early check-outs, and special requests professionally during the night period.
- Respond efficiently to guest complaints and escalate major concerns to management when required.
- Collaborate with Security, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and other relevant departments to resolve overnight operational challenges.
- Follow front office protocols, hotel policies, and financial control measures thoroughly.
- Identify and report any discrepancies involving cash, payments, guest accounts, or daily operations.
- Maintain thorough records and ensure a seamless handover to the morning shift team.
- Assist during emergencies or unforeseen operational incidents occurring at night.
- Foster a secure, professional, and welcoming environment during night hours.
- Support management including Front Office and Hotel Managers with reports and reconciliations as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Hotel Management, Hospitality, Tourism, or a related discipline.
- Have at least 2 to 3 years of verifiable experience as a Night Auditor, Front Office Associate, Finance or Accounts Officer within a hotel or related hospitality sector.
- Demonstrated experience working night shifts in a reputable hotel environment is strongly preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of front office operations, night audit procedures, and guest account administration.
- Proficient in Property Management Systems (PMS) and accounting or revenue management software used in hospitality.
- Solid knowledge of hotel billing, cash management, revenue reconciliation, and financial processes.
- Possess strong numerical aptitude, analytical skills, keen attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Able to operate independently with minimal oversight and exercise good judgment during night hours.
- Capable of managing stress, prioritising tasks effectively, and working flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Maintain professional appearance, positive demeanor, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of revenue management and financial controls in the hotel industry is considered advantageous.
