Job description
About the Role
We are seeking a Network Officer to provide consultancy expertise to support the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in enhancing and solidifying the network function within Vodacom. This role requires comprehensive experience in network strategy, architecture, planning, engineering governance, network transformation, and designing technology operating models. The candidate will advise the CTO leveraging knowledge of both fixed and mobile network environments, including investment planning, governance frameworks, and technology roadmap formulation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the CTO in defining and sustaining the organization’s technology vision, strategic direction, and development roadmap.
- Deliver data-driven analyses and strategic recommendations to support critical decision-making processes.
- Oversee technology performance management and uphold effective governance structures.
- Lead innovation initiatives that advance business value and maintain future market competitiveness.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to Vodacom’s operational environment.
- Maintain adherence to established health and safety protocols.
Required Competencies
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges promptly, minimizing operational downtime.
- Experience on CTO council engagements for at least a six-month period demonstrating both technical proficiency and leadership skills.
- Analytical capabilities including data analytics and foundational IT audit skills.
Qualifications and Experience
- Postgraduate degree complemented by extensive relevant professional experience.
- Master’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
- Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer (PE).
