The Network Fabric Engineering team is seeking a Network Development Manager to lead the Access Networking group in Dublin. This role entails managing a team responsible for building, deploying, and scaling Amazon's global networks that underpin AWS, our customers, and internal business units across numerous data centers worldwide.

AWS's network infrastructure is a vital competitive advantage, enabling the seamless operation of thousands of applications over hundreds of thousands of servers. The networking team designs and operates a state-of-the-art network platform powering Amazon's cloud and e-commerce services, recognized for its efficiency, performance, and reliability. This position offers an opportunity to ensure network availability at the largest cloud network scale globally.

The AWS Infrastructure Services division oversees design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS's worldwide infrastructure—encompassing all data centers and their servers, networking hardware, power, and cooling. This team tackles complex challenges driven by multifaceted supply chains and requires talents passionate about empowering innovation at scale.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary group including software and hardware engineers, network specialists, supply chain professionals, security experts, and operations leaders. Collaboration across AWS enables the delivery of the highest safety and security standards, infinite capacity, and cost-efficiency, supported by an inclusive culture that encourages bold thinking and ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Network Development Engineers focused on global data center network infrastructure, delivering solutions that remain highly available, cost-effective, low-latency, and unconstrained for customers.
  • Drive operational excellence by developing standards, processes, and compliance measures to enhance efficiency in daily operations and projects.
  • Lead network performance measurement initiatives, analyzing metrics such as issue rates, capacity utilization, vendor equipment failures, and network performance to focus efforts on high ROI areas.
  • Oversee all aspects of team performance and career growth, conducting regular one-on-ones, providing technical and soft skills mentoring, managing project quality audits, coordinating training, and scheduling operational rotations.
  • Enhance incident and change management practices by driving process improvements, tool enhancements, and feedback loops to scale with Amazon's platform growth.
  • Lead recruitment and hiring efforts to attract quality talent aligned with current and future organizational needs, collaborating with internal and external recruiters, conducting candidate evaluations, and guiding onboarding training.
  • Champion automation initiatives by identifying operational tasks suitable for automation, collaborating with software teams to integrate these workflows within network engineering tools.
  • Define and communicate strategic goals for the team, allocate necessary resources, and report progress to senior leadership.
  • Participate in an 8x7 management escalation on-call rotation.

  • Minimum three years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical fields, or direct experience collaborating with engineering teams.
