Job description
About Fractile
Founded in 2022, Fractile is pioneering the development of innovative hardware designed specifically to accelerate AI inference at high speeds and scale. Their mission is to overcome the time constraints limiting the effectiveness of advanced AI systems by re-imagining hardware architectures capable of delivering thousands of tokens per second with large model and long context handling capabilities.
Role Overview
The Modelling Engineer plays a crucial part in creating detailed pre-silicon models of Fractile's novel AI acceleration hardware. These models guide architecture decisions, assess performance trade-offs, facilitate early-stage software development, and enable thorough bottleneck analyses. The engineer collaborates closely across hardware, software, and machine learning teams, ensuring a seamless hardware-software co-design process.
Team Context
Situated within Fractile's Software organisation under the Developer Experience area, the role involves work ranging from ML compilers and device drivers to simulation platforms and datacenter-scale deployment tools. The Simulation team includes experts in C++, SystemC, validation, and embedded systems who define hardware behavior prior to fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Build detailed pre-silicon models of complex semiconductor IP.
- Perform architectural exploration and performance modeling to inform design choices.
- Conduct verification and functional modeling ensuring model accuracy.
- Analyze performance bottlenecks and enable early compiler and runtime software development on virtual platforms.
- Collaborate extensively with hardware architects and software developers in a co-design environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with pre-silicon modelling of sophisticated semiconductor intellectual property.
- Proficient in SystemC or similar modeling frameworks.
- Strong C++ skills targeted at high-performance simulation tasks.
- Experience in performance modeling, architectural analysis, and functional verification.
- Preferred experience with machine learning workloads or accelerator architectures.
- Startup or small team work experience considered advantageous.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s experience and specialization.
- Equity participation providing ownership in the company’s value creation.
- Comprehensive benefits including private medical, dental and vision coverage, contributory pension scheme, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and life/critical illness insurance.
- Inclusive and diverse workplace committed to equal employment opportunities.
