Role Overview
The position of Mobilizer is a full-time, onsite role based in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. The Mobilizer will engage directly with local communities to support Sevalaya's programs in education, healthcare, rural development, and welfare. Daily tasks include identifying and connecting with target communities, organizing awareness sessions, coordinating field activities, and facilitating access to the organization's services.
The Mobilizer will establish and nurture relationships with community members, local leaders, partner organizations, and volunteers to ensure smooth program execution. Responsibilities also involve collecting basic field data and participant feedback, preparing straightforward reports, and providing insights to enhance program outreach. Frequent field visits within the region and collaboration with Sevalaya staff are essential for planning and implementing community-centric initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong abilities in community engagement and building relationships, motivated by a genuine interest in social development.
- Proficient communication skills, both written and spoken, preferably in Tamil and possibly additional regional languages.
- Basic organizational and coordination capabilities to handle field activities, meetings, and awareness programs effectively.
- Competence in gathering, documenting, and reporting simple field data and observations to support program needs.
- Comfortable with onsite work and local travel, including visits to rural areas.
- Previous experience in NGO, social work, or community outreach roles is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Minimum education of higher secondary or graduation, ideally with a background in social work, humanities, or related disciplines.
- Self-driven, dependable, and skilled in working collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
