About the Role
We are seeking a Mobile Generator Engineer to join our specialist engineering team based in Cambuslang, Glasgow. This is a hands-on, field-based position involving maintenance, servicing, and repair of diesel generators and power generation equipment at customer sites. The role requires managing a mobile workload, ensuring equipment is operational, and delivering a high-quality customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform servicing, maintenance, and repairs on diesel generators and power generation machinery.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults efficiently.
- Respond promptly to customer breakdowns to restore operations safely and quickly.
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance and comprehensive servicing.
- Carry out detailed fault finding and diagnostic procedures on engines and electrical systems.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained to safety and reliability standards.
- Manage multiple customer locations and organize workload effectively.
- Complete accurate service documentation and engineering records.
- Provide knowledgeable and professional service to customers on site.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Proven mechanical engineering experience, especially with diesel engines, generators, plant, or heavy equipment.
- Good understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting techniques.
- Capable of working independently in a mobile, field-based environment.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with customers.
- Basic computer literacy to maintain engineering records.
- Possession of a full UK driving license.
- Experience as Generator Engineer, Power Generation Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Plant Engineer, Heavy Equipment Engineer, Diesel Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, HGV Engineer, or Ex-Forces/REME is desirable.
