Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accountant to independently manage the entire bookkeeping function for Xsolla Berlin GmbH. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records in compliance with German GAAP (HGB) and GoBD standards, handling month-end closing processes, and managing intercompany accounting within an international group framework. This onsite role will involve transitioning accounting systems from DATEV to NetSuite and preparing statutory financial reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the bookkeeping cycle including processing bank transactions, accounts payable invoices, and journal entries.
  • Compile monthly trial balances, journal entries, and related supporting schedules.
  • Handle intercompany accounting and reconciliations across group entities seamlessly.
  • Ensure all bookkeeping activities adhere strictly to German GAAP and legal documentation requirements (GoBD).
  • Lead and support the migration of accounting records from DATEV to NetSuite, including necessary coordination during the integration phase.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns (Umsatzsteuervoranmeldung/Umsatzsteuererklärung), corporate income tax returns, and annual financial statements (Jahresabschluss).
  • Provide thorough and well-organized data and documentation for external tax advisors and statutory auditors.
  • Assist with fixed assets accounting, accruals, and provisions management.
  • Support payroll-related accounting activities and collaborate with HR or payroll providers.
  • Respond promptly to queries from Internal Audit, Group Reporting, and external consultants.
  • Ensure invoice documentation complies fully with section 14 UStG requirements.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of five years of hands-on experience managing full accounting operations, ideally within a German GmbH or multinational group setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing and submitting German VAT and corporate income tax returns plus annual financial statements; possessing Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK) certification or equivalent practical experience is a notable advantage.
  • Strong familiarity with German GAAP (HGB) and GoBD principles governing bookkeeping and retention.
  • Proven practical experience with DATEV software; eagerness and ability to quickly adopt NetSuite during migration is highly valued.
  • Comprehensive understanding of German VAT regulations and invoice compliance essentials.
  • Experience managing intercompany accounting within multi-entity organizations is a plus.
  • Comfortable managing mid-sized company bank transactions and accounts payable processes.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and adeptness at meeting structured deadlines such as month-end close and audit preparations.
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in both German and English, necessary for liaising with tax professionals and international teams.
  • Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets for data handling and account reconciliations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting statutory audit processes.
  • Knowledge of transfer pricing structures and cost-plus intercompany models.
  • Background in fast-growing sectors such as tech, gaming, or payment solutions.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary ranges from €55,000 to €60,000. Xsolla provides an inclusive benefits package prioritizing employees’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being including unlimited flexible time off, gym memberships, monthly train tickets, and personalized career development plans.
