Role Overview

We are hiring a Mid-Level Backend Developer in Jeddah with a hybrid work setup allowing some remote work flexibility. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining backend application logic, APIs, and data persistence layers for Cretik’s web and mobile products. The daily duties include writing clean, efficient, and testable code; integrating external services; optimizing performance; and resolving backend issues. Collaboration with frontend developers, UI/UX teams, and product managers is essential to ensure secure, scalable, and seamless application integration. The position also entails participating in code reviews, enhancing development workflows, and contributing to technical documentation and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain server-side logic, APIs, and database solutions supporting web and mobile applications.
• Write clean, efficient, and testable code following industry best practices.
• Integrate third-party services and optimize application performance for reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend engineers and UI/UX designers to ensure smooth integration.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.
• Participate in creating technical documentation and establishing development standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Proven backend development expertise using modern server-side languages/frameworks such as Node.js, Python, Java, or .NET with RESTful API experience.
• Strong knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) including data modeling.
• Understanding software architecture principles, microservices, and their integration with frontend web and mobile applications.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git, including code review and branching workflow methodologies.
• Awareness of application security concepts, performance tuning, and scalability in production environments.
• Experience or exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) or containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills for working in diverse, cross-functional teams and translating technical concepts into actionable solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Typically 3 to 5 years’ experience in backend development roles, preferably within agency or product-focused companies operating in the MENA region.
