About Xe

Xe is a global cross-border payments platform that serves small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and consumers in regions including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Annually, the platform delivers currency information to over 300 million users and facilitates foreign money transfers for more than 350,000 customers.

Currently, Xe is revamping the foundational platform that powers corporate and consumer cross-border payments. Being backed by Euronet Worldwide (Nasdaq: EEFT) ensures the challenges are always on a significant scale, while the company maintains a nimble development environment where your work impacts rapidly.

Role Overview

We are recruiting a mid-level back-end software engineer eager to take full ownership of complex challenges—spanning the design of APIs and data models, through service implementation, to maintaining production reliability and deployment. Familiarity with AI tools integrated into development workflows is expected.

The successful candidate will develop backend services facilitating monetary transfers and managing multi-currency accounts across various domains such as onboarding, KYC/KYB processes, payment initiation, foreign exchange, settlement, and auxiliary systems. Collaboration with product managers, compliance officers, and operations teams will be key from initial problem framing to final release. Responsibilities also include maintaining partner integrations and settlement infrastructures, alongside owning production reliability and incident management.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop backend services enabling money movement and multi-currency balance management across onboarding, KYC/KYB, payment initiation, FX, settlement, and related domains.
  • Collaborate closely with product, compliance, and operations teams through all development phases from conceptualization to deployment.
  • Build and maintain partner integration layers and settlement infrastructure critical to service operations.
  • Take ownership of deployed services including reliability engineering, monitoring, on-call duties, and resolving incidents promptly.
  • Leverage AI-driven coding tools such as Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code throughout the software development lifecycle, assisting in migrating legacy components into a modern technology stack.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Between 3 and 6 years of hands-on experience developing production-grade backend services with end-to-end responsibility.
  • Strong expertise in backend development using C# and the .NET framework preferred; proficiency in other object-oriented languages like Java, Kotlin, or Go is also acceptable.
  • Solid understanding of SQL and relational database fundamentals.
  • Experience in writing and maintaining automated tests.
  • Regular utilization of AI-assisted coding tools integrated in the development process.
  • Proven production experience working with AWS services (e.g., SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, Lambda), including hands-on deployment.
  • Well-grounded knowledge of system design, especially distributed systems and asynchronous or event-driven architectures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.

Preferred Skills

  • Background in payments, foreign exchange, or cross-border money transfer systems.
  • Experience working with microservices or service-oriented architecture.
  • Familiarity with financial systems such as ledgers and double-entry accounting.
  • Exposure to continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines and contemporary release methodologies.
  • Use of caching technologies like Memcached or Redis.
  • Proficiency with project management and documentation tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Knowledge of API testing utilities such as Postman or Bruno.
  • Experience in developing automated tests together with AI-based coding assistants.

Benefits and Perks

  • Attractive salary package and discretionary bonus schemes.
  • Annual leave of 23 days, increasing up to 28 days with tenure.
  • Paid leave for your birthday.
  • Employer pension contribution at 4%.
  • Discounts available through Euronet Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
  • Life insurance, income protection, and critical illness cover.
  • Healthcare benefits.
  • Access to mental health and wellbeing resources through Plumm.
  • One volunteering day annually for a charity of your choice.

Xe is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace that values diversity across all dimensions. The company is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer and considers all qualified candidates regardless of age, ethnicity, disability, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other legally protected traits. Xe also provides reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities upon request.
