Job description

Role Overview

This position involves overseeing end-to-end order management to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. The merchandiser is responsible for negotiating with suppliers to achieve cost-effective pricing aligned with target margins set by headquarters, maintaining accountability for profitability and quality of merchandise.

Key Duties

  • Serve as the main liaison to factories, coordinating the full ordering process.
  • Determine appropriate price and quality for each item to maximize value for customers.
  • Participate in factory evaluations and support ongoing improvements and business growth.
  • Collaborate closely with the product development team during product sampling stages.
  • Manage quotations, conduct pricing analyses, and lead price negotiations within parameters defined by headquarters.
  • Administer order allocation consistent with departmental strategy and headquarters frameworks.
  • Oversee the critical path of merchandising activities through engagement with supply chain and related teams.
  • Monitor order progress and proactively resolve issues as they arise.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Higher education qualification or equivalent tertiary-level degree.
  • Extensive experience in merchandising roles.
  • Strong technical understanding of materials and processes relevant to the product categories handled.
  • Effective negotiation skills combined with strong commercial acumen.
  • Proactive approach to anticipating and addressing challenges.
  • Ability to manage stress and adapt to changing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Problem-solving capability, including knowing when to seek guidance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, especially Excel/Sheets and PowerPoint/Slides.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
