Job description

Position Overview

We are in search of an experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to spearhead the industrialization, superior assembly processes, and manufacturing preparedness of aerospace-grade motor assemblies and electro-mechanical systems. This managerial role encompasses overseeing New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives from design handover through mass production ramp-up while ensuring strict adherence to aerospace quality, reliability, and regulatory mandates.

Key Duties

  • Lead the production and assembly of precision aerospace motors such as BLDC, AC, DC, servo motors, actuators, and high-speed rotating devices.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of rotor-stator alignment, dynamic balancing at G-level precision, bearing handling and lubrication, winding and insulation methods, and manage critical performance factors including runout, vibration constraints, thermal expansion, and noise control in compliance with aerospace tolerances and traceability.
  • Oversee full lifecycle integration of electro-mechanical products, combining motors, controllers, wiring harnesses, and sensors while addressing EMI/EMC factors, thermal-structural interactions, and verifying performance under vibration, shock, thermal cycling, and life-cycle tests.
  • Drive end-to-end aerospace NPI projects covering stages from prototype through EVT, DVT, PVT to mass production; conduct DFM/DFA improvements, manufacturing readiness assessments, risk mitigation plans including DFMEA/PFMEA, and develop process flows, control plans and work instructions compliant with AS9100 audits to ensure zero-defect production.
  • Exhibit expert proficiency in technical drawing interpretation, applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards, tolerance stack analysis, identifying feature criticality, flagging manufacturability risks, recommending design adjustments via CAD tools such as Creo, NX, or SolidWorks, and managing engineering changes via ECR/ECO.
  • Design and validate assembly fixtures, coil winding setups, rotor balancing devices, and possess knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and torque control tooling, with a focus on error-proofing, repeatable precision, and cycle time optimization.
  • Manage FAIR execution aligned with AS9102, with extensive experience in AS9100 and NADCAP standards; lead APQP and PPAP processes adapted to aerospace, control special processes, and perform rigorous root cause and failure analyses.
  • Conduct supplier development and resolve field concerns by performing process audits, technical issue troubleshooting, qualification processes, component validations; provide technical guidance during customer escalations and on-site assembly failure investigations; frequent travel required.
  • Lead multifunctional teams across mechanical, manufacturing, and quality domains; drive performance management, technical mentoring, enforce engineering governance, and promote a structured problem-solving culture.

Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech or M.E. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 15 to 20 years of experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability EMS focusing on motor assembly, electro-mechanical systems, NPI and manufacturing engineering.

Technical Expertise Required

  • Comprehensive understanding of aerospace motor assembly fundamentals.
  • Advanced GD&T capabilities and tolerance stack analyses.
  • Proficiency in FAIR (AS9102), APQP, and PPAP methodologies.
  • Expertise in fixture and tooling design and validation.
  • Strong background in failure analysis and reliability engineering.
  • Experience in supplier development, audits, and lean manufacturing & Six Sigma principles.
