Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer specializing in plastic injection-molded part development to contribute to the next generation of LEGO® bricks. This role involves enhancing brick quality, performance, and manufacturability through innovative engineering and collaborative teamwork.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and improve existing LEGO® bricks using Siemens NX Design Software.
- Establish and maintain technical specifications for current LEGO® bricks.
- Manage the form, fit, and function of LEGO® bricks to ensure adherence to design principles, quality standards, manufacturing criteria, and play performance.
- Deliver engineering projects on schedule, within budget, and meeting quality standards while following LEGO® governance and development protocols.
- Apply expertise in plastic injection molding, mold design, materials, tolerancing, and manufacturing to create robust and manufacturable LEGO® brick designs.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at elevating product quality, engineering effectiveness, and productivity.
- Foster a cooperative and inclusive team environment promoting continuous learning and a positive outlook.
Organizational Context
The Element Development Reorders (EDR) team is part of the Existing Element Development within Element & Additive Engineering and plays a crucial role in LEGO Operations. This team is responsible for maintaining and advancing the design of existing LEGO® bricks to meet dynamic play, safety, quality, and regulatory demands while ensuring design excellence. Collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders is vital to deliver durable, manufacturable, and high-quality products. The team also participates actively in quality, productivity, and continuous improvement programs aimed at enhancing product and operational performance.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in designing plastic parts.
- Proficiency with Siemens NX Design Software.
- Strong knowledge of plastic mold design, injection molding processes, and tooling.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to excel in a fast-moving and dynamic workplace.
- A mindset focused on continuous improvement and learning.
- Team-oriented with a proactive, constructive attitude.
- Fluent in both spoken and written English.
