Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview

ENGIE Middle East is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its maintenance division in Al Jubayl, Saudi Arabia. Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and overseeing a team including foremen and technicians, this role involves supervising daily mechanical maintenance in a power and desalination plant. The position plays a vital role in ensuring the plant adheres to safety, environmental standards, availability, reliability, efficiency, and budget goals, especially during major outages supported by long-term gas turbine service agreements.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure strict compliance with Integrated Management System (IMS) safety procedures to provide a safe working environment for all personnel and contractors.
• Obtain necessary Permits to Work and ensure adherence to method statements, work instructions, and safety protocols.
• Supervise mechanical technicians and contractors to enforce HSE rules and promptly report any unsafe conditions.
• Plan, schedule, and monitor maintenance tasks as per Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) work orders and maintain detailed work documentation.
• Prepare maintenance activity reports and ensure mechanical equipment maintenance aligns with OEM manuals and industry best practices.
• Coordinate with the Lead Engineer to optimize maintenance scheduling and update maintenance procedures when necessary.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair support to reduce equipment downtime, including root cause analysis and collaboration with plant operations personnel.
• Be readily available for emergency call-outs to support continuous plant operations.
• Assist in outage planning, budgeting, and maintaining adequate inventories of spares and consumables, including procurement requisitions.
• Ensure availability and certification of necessary tools and equipment and their proper maintenance.
• Offer technical advice and training to team members and contractors on equipment, safety, and maintenance practices, including detailed modules covering gas turbines, steam turbines, pumps, compressors, and other plant components.
• Mentor and coach mechanical technicians to enhance their skills in operational techniques and safe working procedures.
• Operate within established policy boundaries, escalating extraordinary issues to the Engineering Manager or Lead Engineer as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience between 2 to 3 years for external candidates; internal candidates may have 3 to 5 years in a similar role within power plant mechanical maintenance.
• Age range of 25-35 years is preferred.

• High efficiency and quality in troubleshooting, reporting, and root cause analysis follow-up.
• Accurate outage planning and budget forecasting.

• Proper condition and quantity of tools and equipment maintained.
• Positive staff feedback and continual skill development of technicians.
