The Operations Engineering team is pivotal to the organization's manufacturing excellence.
Role Overview
The Mechanical Engineer will be an integral member of the Engineering team, responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and sustaining mechanical processes that ensure efficient production operations. This role suits an engineer passionate about transforming concepts into tangible manufacturing solutions by working collaboratively with R&D and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and fabricate superior quality production fixtures, tooling, and equipment.
- Collaborate with R&D to support manufacturing design and product development.
- Assist and guide the New Product Introduction (NPI) team through product launches.
- Provide mechanical technical assistance on the factory floor, resolving issues and minimizing production interruptions.
- Handle modifications to fixtures ensuring changes are safe, properly documented, and managed.
- Engage with external vendors to procure parts, services, and problem-solving solutions.
- Identify and implement improvements to manufacturing processes, equipment, and overall efficiency.
- Maintain rigorous standards of health, safety, quality, and 6S workplace organization.
- Keep engineering and process documentation current, accurate and well-maintained.
- Contribute innovative practical enhancements for ongoing engineering and manufacturing advancements.
Candidate Profile
- Certification or degree in Mechanical Engineering (such as NZCE, NZDE, BE or equivalent).
- Minimum of three years’ experience in mechanical engineering or within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD design and robust technical troubleshooting capabilities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Hands-on, practical engineering mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in workshops or manufacturing settings is preferred.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively across R&D, manufacturing, NPI, and engineering teams.
- A proactive attitude focused on identifying and executing process improvements.
