Role Overview
The position requires a Mechanical Design Engineer proficient in Autodesk Inventor and automation to lead the design of Power Distribution Centers (PDCs), Power Equipment Centers (PECs), modular electrical enclosures, and containerized power systems. This role demands expertise in creating manufacturing-ready 3D mechanical designs, automating repetitive engineering tasks, and standardizing workflows to boost productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Create intricate 3D models and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor software.
- Design and catalog sheet metal enclosures, structural frames (including provisions for lifting and transport), mounting arrangements, bus support structures, cable routing systems, and equipment layouts.
- Optimize designs to enhance manufacturability and ease of assembly.
- Develop and sustain Inventor iLogic rules to enable configurable parametric modeling.
- Create reusable design templates and maintain standard part libraries.
- Automate repetitive engineering processes to improve overall productivity.
- Implement standardized engineering workflows for consistency and efficiency.
- Produce detailed fabrication drawings suitable for shop release, inclusive of bills of materials (BOM).
- Develop engineering automation tools utilizing technologies such as Autodesk Inventor API, iLogic, VBA, VB.NET, C#, .NET Framework, Autodesk Design Automation concepts, and custom Inventor add-ins.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.Tech/B.E.) in any specialization.
- 10 to 15 years of experience in mechanical design with significant exposure to Autodesk Inventor and automation techniques.
