Mechanical Draftsman

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Draftsman with 3 to 4 years of experience specializing in structural and mechanical design using AutoCAD. The role is based in Bangalore (MG Road) and involves the creation of precise engineering drawings aligned with project needs.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D mechanical and structural drawings utilizing AutoCAD software.
• Develop various drawings including fabrication, assembly, layouts, and detailed engineering designs.
• Produce structural schematics, equipment layouts, and mechanical component illustrations.
• Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, measurements, and design criteria accurately.
• Update and modify drawings in response to engineering revisions.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical, structural, production, and project engineering groups to ensure coherence.
• Ensure all drawings meet project standards, specifications, and design requirements.
• Prepare General Arrangement (GA), fabrication, and sectional drawings as needed.
• Maintain documentation and version control of all engineering drawings.
• Assist engineers in refining mechanical and structural design concepts.
• Carry out thorough checks on drawings to verify accuracy, dimensional tolerance, and completeness.
• Work with fabrication and production teams to resolve any drawing-related challenges.
• Adhere to project timelines for completion of all assigned drawings.

Skills & Experience

• Proficient use of AutoCAD for mechanical drafting and documentation.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural drafting principles.
• Comprehension of mechanical parts, structural elements, fabrication processes, and engineering drawing conventions.
• Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with GA, fabrication, assembly drawings, and layouts.
• Knowledge of dimensions, geometric tolerances, sectional views, and detail drawing techniques.
• Capable of working independently while effectively coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Meticulous attention to detail with a focus on drawing accuracy.

Education & Industry Experience

Minimum qualification: ITI or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Draftsman, or a comparable technical credential.

Preference will be given to candidates experienced in engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, steel, power plants, heavy engineering, industrial projects, or mechanical equipment sectors.
