The Gas Power division specializes in advanced and efficient natural gas technologies and services, including solutions targeting decarbonization to enable a lower carbon future. FieldCore, a team within Gas Power One Field Services, focuses on installing, maintaining, and upgrading power generation equipment to help operators worldwide deliver reliable and affordable energy.

Role Overview

The Mechanical Technician will be tasked with the safe installation, maintenance, and repair of heavy rotating machinery primarily used for power generation. This role requires coordination with supervisors, environmental health and safety personnel, and operations teams to ensure operational goals are met. Additional duties may be assigned to support FieldCore’s vision and values.

Key Responsibilities

• Use hoists, cranes, chain falls, hand and power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic devices, and precision measurement instruments including micrometers, dial indicators, and laser alignment tools to dismantle, assemble, move, and align machinery and equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical manuals to guide work processes accurately.
• Manage logistics including shipping, receiving, inventory tracking, and control of tools, equipment, and supplies for turbine and diesel component (T&DC) projects.
• Conduct inspections of materials and machinery using precise measuring devices such as calipers, protractors, torque wrenches, and micrometers.
• Carry out machining and welding tasks to fabricate parts for lab and workshop equipment.
• Identify equipment specifications and compile detailed parts lists covering mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components for procurement.
• Handle loading, transportation, and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment, performing mechanical and electrical maintenance as required.
• Install machinery accurately using layout plans, blueprints, and other technical drawings within industrial settings.
• Be available and willing to work during holidays, weekends, and overtime to meet field assignment needs.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least one year of hands-on experience in maintaining, dismantling, and installing industrial machinery including pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license is mandatory.
• Preferred qualifications include a degree or associate degree in a technical field or specialized training in Gas Turbine Systems.

Desired Skills and Attributes

• Proficiency in disassembling and assembling complex rotating equipment with experience in bolting techniques, hydraulic bolting, flange management, small bore piping, basic rigging, lifting, and operating overhead cranes.
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude coupled with excellent oral communication and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage time-sensitive assignments effectively, especially in challenging operational environments.
• Capability to perform independently while also functioning effectively within a team.
