Gas Power Business and FieldCore
The Gas Power division focuses on innovative natural gas technologies and decarbonization solutions. FieldCore, as part of this business, is responsible for installing, maintaining, and upgrading power generation equipment worldwide to ensure reliable energy supply.
Role Summary
The Rigger I specializes in the movement of heavy and complex loads that require unique rigging equipment, executing tasks as directed by crew chiefs or supervisors. Responsibilities include assisting in installation and maintenance of power plants and oilfield pumping units, and supporting field operations in alignment with the company’s vision and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct or signal personnel during hoisting tasks to ensure safety.
- Conduct tests on rigging gear to verify integrity and safety.
- Secure loads using hand and power tools in preparation for movement.
- Choose appropriate rigging equipment based on load weight, size, and operational context.
- Navigate heavy equipment safely through tight or confined spaces employing specialized rigging devices.
- Adjust suspended loads using multi-point suspension methods to maneuver obstacles.
- Handle rigging lines and lifting mechanisms for supporting and moving heavy materials.
- Maintain cleanliness and condition of machine parts and surfaces.
- Fix pulleys and blocks to overhead supports safely with bolts and clamps.
- Dismantle and properly store rigging tools post-use.
- Implement correct rigging apparatuses and techniques for safe loads lifting.
- Work under various weather conditions including extreme temperatures and wind.
- Prioritize safety in all job functions and promote safe practices among team and visitors.
- Engage actively with Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and assist peers during task planning.
- Attend all scheduled safety trainings and meetings diligently.
- Participate in routine audits of equipment and tools to ensure compliance.
- Recognize and report unsafe behavior and near-miss incidents.
- Assist investigations related to safety and environmental incidents for root cause analysis.
- Adhere to STOP Observation and Near Miss safety programs consistently.
- Perform additional assigned duties as needed, including potential travel and flexibility with scheduling such as holidays, weekends, and overtime.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Entry-level trainee position focused on discovering the right fit regarding attitude, skills, and motivation.
- Basic skill training relevant to rigging and material handling fundamentals.
- High school diploma alongside mechanical experience such as carpentry or crane/lift operation.
- Preferred but not mandatory certifications in rigging, auxiliary moving, and material handling equipment.
Desired Skills and Knowledge
- Familiarity with power generation equipment including gas and steam turbines and related auxiliary systems.
- Competence in selecting suitable rigging tackles for safe load lifting.
- Ability to identify proper shackles, beam clamps, and interpreting lifting sling color codes.
- Knowledge of emergency stop safety signals and protocols.
- Understanding of safe systems of work, method statements, and approved rigging plans.
- Experience operating overhead cranes, either pendant, cab, or remotely.
- Working knowledge of forklifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, tractors with lifting arms, and overhead cranes.
