Role Overview

As a Meat Clerk, you will interact directly with customers, offering guidance on topics such as grilling and nutrition. This position involves preparing high-quality meat cuts, contributing to Safeway’s reputation for excellence, and maintaining appealing merchandise throughout the store.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere strictly to company policies, standards, and procedures in all tasks.
• Greet customers courteously and provide excellent customer service in line with Safeway’s programs.
• Cut and prepare various meat products using knives and saws for display.
• Stock meat products on shelves and maintain attractive merchandise presentations.
• Operate commercial power equipment safely.
• Assist with order writing, receiving, and rotating stock.
• Keep product showcases filled and sanitized.
• Clean and sanitize work areas consistently.

Preferred Experience and Skills

• Previous retail meat cutting experience is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with different meat cuts is an asset; comprehensive training specific to Safeway will be provided.
