Job description
Role Overview
We seek a passionate Mathematics Program Lead dedicated to guiding our Maths Junior initiative aimed at young learners, while also enhancing mathematical proficiency for students in higher grades. This role involves comprehensive responsibilities in teaching, curriculum development, program design, mentoring, student assessment, and parent engagement to enhance academic quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full academic leadership of the Maths Junior program, creating engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences focused on foundational numeracy topics such as number sense, counting, operations, patterns, shapes, measurement, logical reasoning, and problem-solving.
- Design innovative learning experiences using games, puzzles, manipulative tools, stories, experiments, visual aids, real-life contexts, challenges, and competitions aimed at fostering mathematical thinking and confidence rather than rote arithmetic memorization.
- Develop and continuously refine comprehensive curriculum resources, including yearly plans, grade-specific pathways, lesson plans, activity banks, worksheets, games, practice materials, and assessment frameworks with diagnostic tools and progress reports.
- Collaborate with faculty responsible for higher grades to diagnose learning deficits, analyze student performance metrics, and implement targeted interventions to improve understanding, skills application, problem-solving, speed, accuracy, and examination outcomes.
- Create and maintain a structured assessment system encompassing diagnostic, formative, competency, and outcome assessments with detailed student reports illustrating levels, gaps, interventions, and improvements.
- Develop focused academic intervention programs tailored to students' individual needs, ensuring measurable progress through reassessment and mainstreaming.
- Mentor and support mathematics educators by providing guidance on lesson planning, teaching methods, engagement strategies, use of visuals, questioning techniques, assessment, and remedial plans, alongside conducting reviews and constructive classroom observations.
- Help establish and propagate a distinctive Mathematics teaching philosophy emphasizing understanding, visualization, exploration, application, practice, and mastery rather than memorization and repetition.
- Optionally teach or assist in Mathematics classes for students in grades 5 through 10 under CBSE, ICSE, or State Board standards, facilitating the transition from basic numeracy to advanced reasoning.
- Maintain academic tracking dashboards recording attendance, assessment results, concept mastery, learning gaps, homework completion, improvement, participation, and parent feedback, categorizing students by performance status for targeted support.
- Conduct regular parent interactions explaining student progress, strengths, areas needing improvement, at-home strategies, and suggested interventions clearly and empathetically.
- Create enrichment activities like Maths Challenges, Mental Maths Championships, Olympiad preparations, puzzle sessions, logic and reasoning exercises, parent-child events, and inter-center competitions to establish the academy as a hub for mathematical thinking.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement based on student results, curriculum effectiveness, teaching practices, assessments, and feedback from parents and students.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or related fields.
- Strong conceptual grasp of mathematics and excellent verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience teaching school-aged children with strong curriculum and lesson planning abilities.
- Preferred credentials include B.Ed or M.Ed degrees and experience with CBSE/ICSE curricula, enrichment programs, Olympiad prep, activity-based learning, teacher mentoring, curriculum development, or assessment design.
- 3 to 7 years of teaching experience in mathematics; exceptional candidates with strong experience working with young learners will also be considered.
- Valued experience spans both primary and secondary mathematics education.
Desired Skills
- Advanced mathematical understanding, including problem-solving, logical reasoning, modeling, and numerical skills.
- Proficient in concept-based instruction, activity-driven learning, differentiated teaching, classroom management, and student engagement.
- Competence in curriculum creation, assessment design, educational data analysis, remedial planning, and monitoring learning outcomes.
- Leadership capabilities encompassing teacher mentoring, academic planning, program ownership, effective parent communication, and teamwork.
Personal Attributes
- Passionate about mathematics and enjoys engaging with children.
- Able to simplify complex concepts and demonstrate curiosity and creativity.
- Innovative thinker who extends learning beyond textbooks and is dedicated to improving student outcomes.
- Responsible, willing to experiment with novel teaching methodologies and inspire both students and educators.
- Believes firmly that all children can excel in mathematics when taught correctly.
Performance Metrics
- Junior program success measured by enrolments, attendance, engagement, parental satisfaction, skill mastery, and student progression.
- Higher-grade outcomes evaluated by improvements in diagnostic scores, conceptual understanding, closing foundational gaps, assessment results, retention, and parent feedback.
- Curriculum and program development tracked through completion rates, new resource creation, assessment framework implementation, teacher training, and classroom observation improvements.
