Job Overview

We are hiring a skilled Materials Inspector based in Sharjah, UAE. This role involves conducting tests and inspections on materials arriving at the site to ensure they meet project requirements and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform tests on project-assigned materials and oversee all tests and sampling activities at the site.
  • Observe laboratory and on-site testing carried out by contractors or third-party testers and prepare relevant samples and reports.
  • Coordinate with the Materials Engineer to obtain approval for testing works and address any concerns.
  • Carry out sampling and testing efficiently to prevent delays in contractor operations.
  • Regularly verify that delivered materials conform to approved suppliers or sources.
  • Participate in quality control and assurance activities.
  • Support the Materials Engineer in reviewing, approving, testing, and accepting materials used in the project.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Materials, or a related technical field, or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 5 years of experience working on roads and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials such as concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and steel, including relevant standards and specifications.
  • Ability to interpret working drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, and method statements, and to enforce these requirements effectively.
  • Proficient in using computer technology for data access, record maintenance, and report generation, including project-specific engineering and construction software.

Preferred Skills and Attributes

  • Experience working in the UAE or Dubai is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities and interpersonal skills to interact well with the project team.
  • Knowledge of current civil engineering technologies applicable to large civil, structural, or industrial construction projects.
